The nails had hardly pierced the man
As dice were shook and down they slammed
The crowd had started casting lots
They all looked down to count the spots
The dice were worn, they were cracked with use
The dice were rolled, they’d seen much abuse
One guard shouted “His sandals are mine”
His words were course, they were heavy with wine
They spat and they laughed and they shouted with rave
The pierced man looked down, He looked down and forgave
He said “They know not what they do,
All those who mock, I love them too”
His love for man He will always give
He gave His love so that we might live
He moulded our being and gave us form
He gave us hope to conquer each storm
His body was torn, his breath was gone
Our God in Heaven now has His Son
He told us all “Have faith and wait”
So that we can pass before His gate
We shall meet as planned in the highest place
Upon the streets of gold we shall see His face
We’ll look in awe at those mansions so tall
We’ll give praise to God, because He made it all
