Blind No More
I’ve heard stories and sermons from long, long ago
Some told what I should do, some told where I should go
I’ve listened to the words, I’m not sure what they mean
They’re just like a ripple in a river or a stream
They flowed through my mind not leaving a trace
I tried to remember, but off they would race
I know there was Matthew, there was Mark, Luke and John
The rest is all blurry, the rest is all gone
I spoke to some friends of my forgetful dilemma
They spoke the name Jesus, they said “He’ll be your fella”
I said “I know of this Jesus, He’s in my new book
I think that I’ll ask Him to give me a look”
So Jesus I asked to help me along
I asked my forgetfulness He would not prolong
He said “Read that new book”, he said “Read it with song”
He said “Read it with vigor, read it all the day long
He said “Read it at night” He said “Read it out loud”
He said “Read it to people” He said “Read it and be proud”
He said “Read it to children, they need to be taught
For they, just like you, I also have bought"
Not knowing His word had nothing to do with my head
You see, I was hungry, I was starved, I hadn’t been fed
I now yearn for His love, for His grace and compassion
What a blessing it is, it’s after Him that I fashion
My life has been changed in such wonderful ways
My forgetfulness gone, I sing it with praise
He speaks and I listen, with joy I obey
For He showers me with blessings each night and each day
I worry not for the past, I just pray for that day
When He calls me home to that wonderous array
I no longer worry what my Lord has in store
Because now I can see, now I am blind no more
